In "general", what are some good brands for UPS units (for homes, small businesses)? From reading around for the past hour it seems:

High-end:
Liebert, Tripp-Lite, APC Smart-UPS

Medium to low:
APC

It seems APC is pretty reasonable overall for home use. Is Cyberpower complete garbage? For high-end with a $200-300 budget which would be better Liebert, Tripp-Lite or APC Smart-UPS? Assuming you can get them for these prices from eBay, refurbished etc.

I don't want to discuss VA/Wattage just brands for general purpose. I am starting to get higher end clients and realize I am lacking knowledge in this area. :c)

Thanks!

The newer plastic case UPSs are similar in my opinion. The general trend is that newer UPSs have smaller battery capacity per VA capacity, so it might look powerful at the store, but have an absurdly low run time. Big numbers sell and batteries are expensive to make and expensive to ship.

Batteries only have to degrade a little bit before the UPS can no longer provide full rated output.

Regardless of the brand, consumer grade UPSs are almost always modified square wave and they interact wrong with some power factor corrected power supplies and shuts down when it goes to battery operation.
