Good upgrade idea

Currently have 8800GTS 640
2 gigs ddr2
amd x2 4600

So, I found a deal on a q6700 and motherboard oem for $300. Going to switch to vista and grab 2 more gigs of ram. I have a killer aftermarket heatsink with the 775 brackets so oc to 3 will be the first order of business. I'll wait to upgrade the vid card until something crushing comes out. As long as I have 4 cores to drive GTA4 then its all good.

So, intelligent plan or no?

its a micro atx asus that will not support any phenom quad cores. Looked long and hard into going that route but cost/future proofing was not good enough.

That's not bad actually. Q6700cpu and a mobo for $300. What mobo would this be that comes with the Q6700? Also, since you will O/C, here's some other options for you on a mobo/cpu combo deals

those are good deals, but I'm trying to avoid the egg, I live in NJ and I get charged fucking sales tax if I buy from them. thanx anyway.

Seems like a good deal but if the mo-bo they sell you is cheap there might not be many OC options in the bios.
