I was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences with a durable point and shoot that's <$200. Something I can toss around and not worry about getting broken. The waterproof Olympus cameras look nice, but I've read the picture quality isn't that great... ideas? Thx

I'm not really up on the current line-up of P&S cameras, but when you said durable I thought of Canon's G series of metal-bodied point and shoots. Whatever is newest will be awesome and expensive, but you can get a Canon G7 on eBay for about $200 if you're patient. If you have the time to shop around I think a low budget of $200 would be better put to use on a really good camera from a couple years ago rather than whatever crap it will buy now... just my humble opinion.
Olympus has the new ultra-durable series, not sure about their specs or price though.
I have used several of the Canon Digital Elph/Power Shots and they hold up to abuse well. They have a new waterproof model now, and fit in just about any pocket.

As much as I used to like my Canon PowerShots (had a 620 or 630, I think, followed by the 650), I really can't recommend those from a durability standpoint. The first one of those I had, I slipped on some ice while hiking, landed directly on the lens, and crushed it back into the body of the camera. I did like the images it was getting though, so I immediately went out and bought the 650, which is still in one piece somewhere, as far as I know.
The nice thing about P&S camera's is, since they're so cheap, if you do manage to destroy one, you have a good excuse to go buy the latest/greatest with little remorse.
