Good temps while running BF2?

power coler x800xl (the version with the PCI-E power plug) is the type of vid card i have atm

now, i was wondering if these temps were bad.

idle: currently 36.0C

now, while running BF2 high settings on everything cept lighting which is at medium and running at 1280x1024@75hz i get: 52-56C

my question: is this good, bad, normal temperature?

because my computer hard locks, crashes to desktop, or re-boots my PC. I was wondering if the video card temperature is the problem, or is it CPU temperature.

because i have it set to shut down the PC if CPU temp goes above 70C.

I idle at 40's and up to 50 while playing BF2 and other games on my 6800 w/ AV silencer. So yeah, your temps should be normal.

BTW, GPU tend to be hotter than your CPU, that's normal.

Quite a bit hotter in fact. I dont think the temps on your gpu are the problem. Those are very nice temps.

hmmm, then do any of you guys know why it is doing that? my best guess is it's my CPU temp, and i'm going to be re-installing my old WC kit in my system hopefully sunday.... gotta leak test it and seal off a leak tomorrow

then hopefully i can see if that affects it...

ohh, and FYI, i'm (for x-mas) getting a zalman v7700 120mm cooling fan for my CPU and an arctic cooling 5 rev 2.0 GPU cooler, so that might help... but the WC kit will have to work for now, because i frequently go to LAN parties so i dont want it bumping around and having one of the tubes get yanked off (which probably wont happen because i have wormdrive clamps on all the connectors)

but any help would be appreciated, thnx...

also, is there a way i can flash my BIOS on my x800xl? i have the most recent drivers....

my uncle (who is a PC technician) says that, that might be the problem.

hmm, this is an all-time high for my video card tem, a temperature of 60.7C while running ATI tool trying to find my max core, and it has to use the VPU recover on catalyst or whatever you wanna call it, lol... although it scared me shitless there when the screen went blank......

luckily a re-boot fixed it

ack! while running ATI tool, i found that my temps were getting up to about 70C....... now i know that cant be good :\

The threshold temp is 140C. Ya, thats fuckin hot, but 70 under a full load is normal.

ohhh, well i found out that my temps are 10C off, because ATI tool was showing 64C while running BF2, while my probe was showing 54C

How can you guys be complaining about 38 idle and 70 load?

My card idles at 63 and hits 93C max load in RTHDRIBL and runs just fine.

The core threshold on my card is 120C. Someone said the X800XL has a threshold of 140........you guys aren't even getting close to it.

I wouldn't worry.

well, i found the perfect OC for playing BF2 everything maxed 2xAA

for me atleast.....

1280x1024 everything high with 2xAA, my OC is 420 core 519mem

didnt want to push that because im only on stock...

Those temps are fine.

I have an x800xl and the artic silencer on it died and I didn't even notice! Still played bf2 just fine, etc. Heh, that was in a sn25p too, lol, I'm amazed the card didn't catch on fire or something.

I'm sure it varies from card to card, but my 6800gt runs perfectly with temps of 55-60 idle and 75-85 load...shutdown threshold is 127.

yea, the only reason im a bit worried about temps is that i dont have the money to replace it if it suddenly dies on me :\
