I have had a rash of UPS go bad in the last 6 months and I was wondering what a good source for replacement batteries was.

Actually I'm about to do the same thing for a couple of old APC UPS's. If anyone knows a reputable source for this I'd be greatful.

Try Interstate Batteries. They'll install them while you wait for $10 a unit too if you don't feel like mucking about with it yourself.

Ebay...bought a couple for my APC 650 Back-UPS Pro....about $20-25 shipped....

Apexbatteries as well.

Ebay.

And APC offers battery replacement if they are in warranty. If not you can get a unit completely refurbed by Coastal Business Machines.

First off, ups's are not for running things when your power goes out, they're meant to be used to provide enough time for you or the machine itself, to power down safely.

It triggered that thought when you said, TV and game console. You cannot really use this as a replacement for a source of power when your electricity goes off unless you plan on the power coming back online in less then 5 minutes...

Well most of the time...though a number of people use them to run filtration systems for our aquariums during power outages. :D

Or a low wattage fluorescent lamp so we're not in the dark...I know my Ultra 2000VA UPS will power a 20W bulb for nearly 3 hours after running my PC for a half hour.
