Good software for learning the German language?

What's wrong with a local community college or something? Software will most likely teach you textbook German, which is rarely spoken. A professor will also teach you textbook German, but at least they'll be used to speaking it and hopefully let some slang and common German leak through.

Deutsch ist spitze! I took 2 years in high school - I love the language. Your best bet is to find a teacher though. Most software and web-based trainers are usually incorrect and give you literal translations.

Just change your OS locale, you mobile phone locale, your #### locale to German you will soon learn :D

I've already enrolled in Informal classes at U.T., plan to attend the German-speaking dinners on Wednesday in order to get immersed in the language, made contact with a T.A. from the University's department of Germanic Studies...

I'm just impatient, I guess.

What about the Rosetta Stone software ? That might give you a boost.

Yeah.. I'm currently in german3 in HS. But since I'm learning textbook german I can't understand 1/2 of what they say. But can understand written.
