Good settings for a stong Overclock

Hey guys/gals,

I recently added a danger den TDX system to my rig. I know that i should have plenty of potential for ocing, but i need some help. Here is what i have:

P4 2.8ghz core (not prescott)
MSI 865 neo2 mobo
1gig Geil Pc3200 DDR400 ram
ATI 9800 Pro 128mb
cooling is danger den TDX block, 1/2 in tygon, dual radiator w/ 2 120mm sunon fans...etc

I have been able to clock up to 3.1 ghz totally stable with an idle temp of 32...Playing Brothers in Arms with maxed out settings...44

your RAM will probably hold you back (it looks like value select RAM)

if you want maximum speed, get rid of the 1:1 ratio (if you haven't already), and go for it..

obviously when you run into a wall..do the standard up-vcore-loosen-timings-etc.. steps

agreed, the ram is definatly the low point. Do you think you could suggest some possible settings for me. I am new to overclocking and was hoping for some suggestions along the lines of, "this is what loosening the timings is". Again, thanks

and if the ram is truely stopping me at 3.1, whats the right stick?

well..uhmm..anyway...

loosening the timings would be raising them in the BIOS (making the numbers bigger)

I suppose you can loosen them to 3-4-4-8 (i believe stock for yours are 2.5-3-3-7)..but anyway if you really are going to look into overclocking then I'd suggest something that is not value select. G.Skill's PC4400 LE stuff is pretty good...or there's OCZ's Platinum Revision 2...then there's Corsair's XMS/TwinX stuff...Kingston's HyperX has also given good results...

thanks for your help. I loosend the timings and increased my dram voltage. I'm running 3.22 and im stable on prime95 for over 12 hours. Next purchase...new ram.
