I think a lot of that has to do with how easy it is to take stuff the wrong way. Like my comment...I was trying to be funny, apparently didnt succeed. Whatever...I take it all with a grain of salt and move on.
Exactly. I know I can be a dick, I don't hide it but I also don't take anything personal until someone starts trying to deliberately misinform people who come here looking for advice and/or help (not saying Krupted has, he hasn't ever as far as I can remember).

As I said, I think it has more to do with what codecs were used to get you from point A to point B that got you there. No post processing was done at all to your video file since you didn't (at least based on your posts) add any kind of post processing app into the chain of events. It's part codecs and part all in your head. Believe me, if you had done what you think you did (upscaled the video) then it would look absolutely terrible. Like "tubgirl" on a 100" plus TV. Everything that made the original file look "bad" would all be magnified until you feed the video file into some kind of post processing app and you'd know if that had happened since it takes time, hours, maybe even a couple of days, to render just one video file.the 'make up your mind' comment? if that was joshin me, it went right over my head and i apologize.
crim- it was a 700mb avi file turned into mkv, which then that mkv was turned into dvd5 (i know, those are actual formats but i know you know what i mean). this is exactly what i said, the problem was i kept on talking and said something stupid after that and apparently that was the focus instead of what i thought we were talking about.
but in any case, the result is, the original avi file looks worse then the dvd5. im not saying its a big difference, its just the changing resolutions that inherently smooth things out i guess. its obvious when text comes on the screen, or you look at telephone wires.... its like AA was turned on.
oh no youre wrong about that crim, i have definitely given bad advice here. more then once. i also dont like to be wrong and an fully willing to admit when i am so.
i know what youre saying, i understand there is no 'proper' enhancement going on... i just thought it was the fact im changing resolutions and in the order i did it, its sort of like antialiasing the rough edges (which can many times make it worse of course). i dont think this technique would apply to audio or still pictures, video is an entirely different animal.
btw, this was done on a vista machine and cccproject is installed on that because for vista, that codec pack still works a treat. i suppose the codecs could be a lot better then what the video was originally encoded with and thats why i see a difference, i never really thought about why i just know it helped.

Completely different. I don't think I've ever say you try to deliberately misinform anyone before. I'm talking about the few people who've come in here and did nothing but "fanboi" all over the place and push their opinion on others. hahaha yeah, well i am keenly aware of those people, thats why i had a short fuse here when i didnt think people were reading what i said. it really was my fault for typing too much and changing the tone of my point.
i have just looked again because i swear i was not high or anything when i first compared these, and again i am sober as a duck on the highway... the final dvd5 is noticeably better then the original avi... no question about it.
