I searched Amazon today for a few books on molecular biology, protein folding and other relevant subjects. I was overwhelmed by how many books there are. Can anyone who has done "work" in this field recommend a good college-level text on the subject? I would like to understand the whole process (from beginning to end) w/o having to get a degree in biology! :p

Unfortunately, some of the college level books really require you to know a lot of biology and chemistry simply because protein folding is somewhat molecular and biochemical. At the very least I recommend the following two pages:
http://folding.stanford.edu/science.html
http://folding.stanford.edu/results.html

The second one might be a bit over your head. I am doing a biology degree and am a junior and it is over my head, but at the very least you can understand the abstracts.

I came across this page using Google, might be your cup of tea:

http://www.faseb.org/opar/protfold/protein.html and http://wsrv.clas.virginia.edu/~rjh9u/protfold.html

If you wanna know more google "protein folding" :)

I found one on B&N called Protein Structure and Function. It's probably just a bit over my level, but I'm sure it'll kick-in whatever remnants is left of my college biology lectures. ;)

Here's a few nice samples though I found on another web site:

http://www.new-science-press.com/content/pdf/nsp-protein-1-16.pdf
http://www.new-science-press.com/content/pdf/nsp-protein-2-7.pdf
http://www.new-science-press.com/content/pdf/nsp-protein-4-7.pdf

PS. I did read all of the articles from the Stanford web site. It is what actually peaked my interest.
