I've got O'Reilly's Learning Python, 2nd Edition, which I'm finding pretty useful (good, but definately not great), but I'm looking for more advanced books, both for general language stuff, and gui and network specific programming.

Any recommendations?

I liked the New Riders "Essential Pyrhon Refernce" (or something). For the most part, the online documentation for these things is the best way to go. All of the GUI toolkits have good tutorials that teach you enough to understand the basic system well enough to make sense of the API docu. http://diveintopython.org/ has some good sections as well.

Yea, the thing is that I hate online docs, since I can't read them unless I'm at the computer. If they published the online docs in deadtree form, I'd probably buy them, but...

FuzzyDonkey, I'd be interested in your review of Learning Python, 2/e. I have "Learning Perl" and enjoyed it immensely, primarily because of the exercises at the end of each chapter, and because of its conversational tone.

Is Learning Python similar? What were its strengths and weaknesses?
