good pump upgrade?

I was thinking about upgrading from my laguna statuary #3 pump (stats on page 42) to the mcp655 because it has 1/2" input and output and what may be a better overall flow and a smaller footprint (and cause my mom is buying me a grad present) and because my pump is like 3 years old. would the 655 be an upgrade over the stat 3 in terms of flow rate?
i have 2 heatercores (BIX rev2 and a heatercore out of an 87 tracker) as well as a mcw50 and 6002. I really don't understand the pq curves and there's no real apples to apples comparo that i've found of them. can anyone give me a heads up? thanks!!
 
I doubt you're gonna see much of a difference. I have no experience with that pump but I think it has very good power but probably not as good as the one you have now.

I have a 350 gph pump and it does extremely well, soon to find out how it does on the STORM.

off topic: BTW .. what's up with you ... haven't seen you around for a while. Send me a pic of your current setup.
 
i was thinking about getting the storm block as well... a friend of mine in town was looking to go watercooling so i was gonna give him my pump and block on the cheap and get that pump and block... we may not be the only 2 in this town with watercooling :p

My guess would be the 655 would perform better in your system then your current pump, however you might not notice a difference in temps with the mcw6000 as your waterblock. The 655 has twice the head pressure as the pump you currently have. Head pressure is what makes most of the "watercooling" pumps better than the aquarium pumps. You should get more flow in your loop with the 655....but the mcw6000 doesn't really get much better temperatures as the flow increases.
 
Well thank you Erasmus :mad: you made me forget all about my mag3 and buy that damm pump. Of course I would've preferred to spend the money on an IWAKI but since I'm getting a Stacker and using my current Wavemaster as a HTPC I would like to keep everything internal.

Now everything is just gonna look too good .. :p
