Good PSU for this system?

Don't skimp on the power supply, all your new high-end components rely on it for clean stable power and they are worthless if they don't get teh juice they need.

IMHO ... Rosewill = crap

Spend the extra on a Corsair HX520 or other mid-range name brand PSU.
PC Power & Cooling, Coolermaster, & Enermax also make good units.

If it were up to me, I would get the Antec unit you mentioned. Nice price that you found.

It's a Seasonic-built unit, and quite efficient at combining the 12 volt rails. It will have no problems powering up a single 8800 GTS.

How is the HX520 compared to the Antec True Power Trio?

Noisy under full load and I'm not talking about the fan either. It has very bad ripple at full load.

Yeah although I personally have no love for it. It's a competent PSU and should suit your needs but beyond that, meh.

The Corsair HX520 has the heart of an antec 480w TB (has been complimented for its reliablity and excellence). The corsair would certainly be on any top 3 PSU list for any midrange system. Think of it as a set it and forget it forever kind of deal. But you set this one up and you will never experience a problem with it for years...

Will I be able to overclock much on the HX520?

Lets just say that it will unleash the beast in your system :D It will not be a bottleneck in your overclocking. It is a very high quality power supply which is under-rated IMHO. It would be an excellent choice if cash isn't a problem. Simply put, if you have the money, BUY IT!

Under rated? UNDER RATED??!!! Are you serious? With every every self styled PSU elitist pimping the HX series how on earth can you call it UNDER RATED? IMHO it's the single most over rated family of power supplies on the market. Problem: My PC is unstable. Solution: Get a HXxxx. Problem: My cat has fleas. Solution: Get the HXxxx, the fleas will be so in awe of your PC they'll leave in fear/respect. Problem: My mom died. Solution: Get the HXxxx, it can raise the dead!

I'm just tired of seeing the same shit every time someone asks about a power supply. The HX series is not the messiah nor is it the best answer for everyone out there. There are power supplies that are every bit as good if not better (for example: Zippy's mentioned earlier) but, OMG, you are teh suck if you recommend one. Bah.

tampon?

You wouldn't know a good power supply if it fell on your foot.

Edit: Unless it was a HX, then it would heal any damage it did :p

Don't forget, the HX series helps reduce greenhouse gasses, and can cure cancer.

Lovely :D Especially the cat-one, you just made my saturday a wee bit better!

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, madmat. The "Flea Bath" series of PSUs is currently in development but has not been released to market. The HX does not feature Corsair's patented "Flea Removal XTREME" (FRX) technology, but our future products might.

Also, everyone knows that raising the dead is necromancy and generally frowned upon in the EU, which is a good chunk of our market. We wouldn't dare release a power supply that would fly in the face of the morals and beliefs of so many of our loyal customers. While our competitors might make use of Infinite Resurrection Technology, we're staying away from IRT for the time being because while it might increase our sales in some areas, we just think it's wrong.

PS - as for "under-rated" I think he was referring to the wattage rating rather than the prevailing opinion about our power supplies.

PPS - Corsair makes no guarantees that our power supply can make you a happier person, increase your attractiveness to the opposite sex, or convince your boss to give you a raise. It does, however, come in black, which is slimming.

Damn! I really needed that raise...

I do agree with you about it being overrated. Example:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1187866

But the power that it is OFFICALLY RATED at is underrated. For example, (and I'm talking about all current corsair HX PSUs) you wouldn't think that 620w would be enought to run 2X 8800GTX in sli, but amazingly it does. I honestly fine it amazing in that part of the spectrum - hence I said it was underrated. I misinterpreted your post as you did with mine. Just wanted to make that clear. Again, I agree with you fully that many people have been recommending the HX series off the walls.
