Good power supply and modem

Can someone please recommend a good brand for a power supply and also a good brand for a modem. I need to get a good power supply to replace the POWMAX psu I have in the case i'm building with pretty soon. I just need a modem since i'll be using this computer at college. If you have any ideas, could you also add some specs for the modem and psu that I should look at for as well. Thanx...
 
depends on how much wattage you need, sparkle, forton, antec all make pretty good psu's. for a modem any 3com v90 should do fine. your school doesn't have ethernet? most colleges now a days have them, call them up and ask.
 
Sparkle, Enermax, and Antec are definitely the best brand names in power supplies IMO. As far as modems: 3Com, USR Robotics, and Diamond are the best IMO.
 
My school does have an Ethernet connection in the dorm, but from what some other students say the connection isn't up for several weeks at the beginning of the year, so if you really need to be connected to the Internet you need a modem. Plus, I probly won't be living in the dorms all throughout college, so just in case I want to get a modem [Even though most good apartments nowadays offer a good Cable or DSL connection].

[By the way thanx for all the suggestions on the power supplies and modem. I looked at a few Antecs already, and just a few modems (Why is US Robotics so expensive on newegg.com?).]
 
A Good usrobotics external mode is a True hardware modem , ( does all its own procesing work) i keep a usr 5686E here tied to my router so when the cable internet goes down, it dials a seldom used buddies account for service.

dial up sucks anyway you cut it but you Can aleviate your pain, if your dorm uses an internal pbx system that is code activated (one code can activate many lines) get something like a netopia 2020 and dual dial an att world net account wont cost a dime more if its a local number and it will be a hell of alot more bearable.

also if you dont want to pay the piper for us robotics phoebe micro has a very good external serial modem that will honor just about the entire at command set model
# 1456 vqe-c its a v92 and will set you back about 30 bucks if you can find it.
