Good photo printer for around $200?

I'm thinking of buying a photo printer, I'm looking for something that will print about the same quality as you can get at one of those photo printers in various stores. What do you guys recommend for around $200? What about refillable ink - does that lower the quality of the prints?

Thanks ;)

I bought an HP Photosmart 1315 for $80 online, and the output is simple amazing.

Epson R300 $159-179.

Outstanding prints, borderless option also. Seperate ink carts, so if you run out of red only, then you replace red only, not the entire thing. I would not use rehash fillables with an Epson.

Also, it prints on inkjet printable CDs and DVDs. Awesome.

I have a Canon i960. It's simply the best photo printer that I have ever had or seen. Separate ink's for each color, for reason's listed above. Borderless printing option.

I always use genuine ink.

Yeah...buy a Canon instead of an HP or an Epson.

Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could both clearly see the outputs of Epsons and HPs as being far superior. I still get a good laugh out of reading these threads where people say to buy a Canon. They only thing worse than Canons are Lexmarks. Their drive internals are so bad!!!

at my house we have both a photosmart, 7150 and the cannon i860, the 860 is way better for pics so much clearer...

You must be doing something wrong then. Canon's look like shit....and so says any review/industry analyst report/graphics professional I've ever spoken to. They use very low quality ink, and extremely shitty internal components. HPs and Epsons absolutely run circles around them.

i will admit that the epson rs300 or whatever has an excellent photo quality, probably that of professional level... the i860 is pretty damn awesome tho, i read the reviews but i tested it out my self, being it that i have them at my disposal day in and day out, bestbuy employee, so i brought in a picture of me and my girlfriend with my laptop, printed it out, on both 860, photosmart and rs300... epson was the best but we didn't have any, and the photo smart wasn't that great, 860 was the next best, also used kodak premium glossy paper... 4x6 very nice picture

The Canons are decent. Not THAT bad, at least not as bad as you portray them to be. They are certainly not the best, however, they are reasonably competitive.

In scanners, otoh, the HPs and Epsons whip the hell out of Canon.

First, I must say that I've had two canon's in the past, both were peices of crap, although this was about 3-4 years ago. I also currently have a Lexmark, I've refilled the black ink cartridge about 30 times and print about 10 pages a day, works great. :)
