Good PC books to read

What good books do you guys suggest for learing Winxp, linux. I want to learn the ins and outs. I want to bet able to writes scripts, bat files, registry hacks.. you name it I wan't to do it.

Hard ocp should start a book of the week catagory - like Opra book of the month club but for Pc geeks
