I am trying to put together an inexpensive system and overclock it as high as possible. I am hoping to do some cheap overclocked gaming PC write up on it when finished. I will be powering the following:

C2D E4300 oc'ed as high as I can get it
Gigabyte DS3 mobo
1gb x's 2 of Crucial Ballistic 4-4-4-12
Geforce 8800gts 320mb

Any suggestions?

The 700 watt GameXstream linked above has out of spec ripple. I would not recommend it.

I completely agree but I don't believe opivy224 intends to MAX out that PSU. Everyone is aware of the "ripple". However for opivy224's items listed, he is NO WHERE NEAR being max'ed out. Not even close. So, that would make it a wonderful choice. Also, that "ripple effect" was NOT observed throughout the entire power band. Only the max'ed out portion of the power band was it observed (damn, that sounded like Master Yoda)..haha. I personally own one and I am running an AMD FX processor (way overclocked), a 8800GTS 640mb (overclocked) and (2) sticks of Crucial Ballistix. Not one single burp. Ever! Stable!

Here is a discussion of the OCZ 700w PSU and the AC Ripple: http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=333&type=expert&pid=4

"Conclusions

The new GameXstream 700W is one of the best power supplies OCZ has brought to market. The DC outputs were stable and the +12V rails were particularly strong. The overall efficiency was very good and the 120mm cooling fan did a good job of keeping all the internal bits cool all the way up to 700W output. For the majority of power users and/or gamers who realistically only need 300~400 watt output, the OCZ GameXstream 700W will be more than adequate. In addition to the sleeved cables, the blue LED fan adds a very cool lighting effect.

As is the case with most all higher output power supplies, the GameXstream becomes a little noisy (both fan noise and AC ripple noise on the +12V outputs) when operating near maximum load.

The OCZ GameXstream 700W power supply is currently available from Newegg.com for $144.99 USD ($119.99 after MIR!).

Strengths:

Up to 700 watts DC output
Solid, stable voltages (especially the +12V outputs)
Excellent build quality and high efficiency
Quiet operation, at lower power levels
Active PFC and Universal AC input
Quad +12V outputs up to 56A
Dual PCI-e 6-pin connectors (nVidia SLI Ready)
Blue LED fan produces very good lighting effect
Black mesh sleeved cables
Backed by a 3-year warranty

Weaknesses:

A little noisy (fan and AC ripple on +12V) at higher output power levels
No modular cables
For excellent performance, quality and cool blue lighting effects, the OCZ GameXstream 700W power supply earns the PCPerspective Gold Award."

If you aren't huge on warranty (come on its the [H] whose warranty lasts more than 10 minutes) I would go check out what jonnyGURU is selling off from his reviews. There are a ton of deals there on very good units for under 100.

Out of spec ripple.

I still say, No. Why buy a power supply that's 700w, with excessive ripple at that load, when you could buy a good 5-600w, which works well up to that? It just doesn't make sense.

I suggest the Enhance ENP-5150GH, and a case of beer.

Ewiz.com has one of those. I'll let you determine which it is.

See my sig for my OC. 5150GH is the bomb.

It's odd that in JG's review, he reports buzzing/noise but in SPCR, the 520/620HX is basically THE recommended quiet PSU. Which is it?

Quiet and buzzing? Great. That's exactly what my Antec is doing right now (and what I was hoping to avoid) :(

It can, there are reasons a power supply will "buzz" or make other noise that is not endemic to the design.

What kind of noise is the current power supply making? Does it change with load?
