I am redoing my cooling loop and want to monitor my rad fans thru bios. My motherboard is Asrock OC Formula. I am going to use San Ace 109R1212H1011 and a 3waysplitter connected to motherboard header. A while back I remember that attaching any fan to a motherboard header was not recommended. Is this still the case ???

Since you didn't get any answers you might need to provide more information. Your motherboard may not be rated to drive these, so I could understand playing it safe there.

After doing some goggling I'm not going to chance this at best I am going to extend and only attach the tach wires.

add up the amperage each fan draws and see if it exceeds the amperage the fan header can output.

yeah, wouldn't recommend splitting off of a mobo header

you are on the right track splitting out the tach wires
