Ok, so McGee has nothing to do with this case, it just sounded fitting... but it definitly is a Good Ole' Gateway that I bought at a yard sale for 5$. Complete with old scsi setup and a video card that felt like it was made out of paper it was so old.

But...

I am about 95% done with a very "big" case mod to this case:

Yes.

Its an old Gateway 486dx2 AT full tower.

First off, Ill start by telling you the simple things.

Form factor conversion from AT to ATX (obviously)
Made a new front bezel out of aluminum
And... well... the rest is very complicated and only the pictures (on saturday) can describe what Ive done...

Ill give you this teaser pics (webcam, I know, but better than nothing). I will post a complete walkthrough of everything Ive done to this case in a couple of days. Im planning on finishing it by Saturday after months of an hour here, an hour there...

Here is the case in its unsexy non-alive unfinished glory (Saturday baby)

sweet!!! I love it when people Mod Gateways, Crappaqs, E-machines, Etc

my mom modded her Dell , name brand mods are soooo cool, I can stress that enough.
you take some off the shelf P>O>S and make it nice.... keep i up and show more pics!!! :)

Old cases are my favourite type to work with.

Big, bulky, lots of room (due to parts being larger and shittier, gives you more space for todays shizzle).

Im also semi working on a MicroATX case that I got from a yard sale also. Its one of the first MicroATX cases Gateway introduced (hmm... I just realised Ive modded alot of gateways). Its going to be pretty nice when Im finished with it as well... but that wont be for some time.

Anyways, Im going to be posting updates tomorow.

What Im doing tomorow:

Sanding down the frame, front bezel, and other various metal parts to an ALMOST mirror finish. Clearcoat, yay ( I like the look of shiny metal, but not too shiny).

Painting a few things that need to be painted

Finishing the custom housing for my 5inch LCD Im putting in the front bezel (which is, believe it or not, made out of a stiff plastic "box" that my 120mm fan came in)

Drilling holes in the frame for a few things that shall remain nameless until I post complete pics

Cutting my plexiglass and sheetmetal for a few different things

(1) how to convert at to atx? got an old steel tower that i'll trash (p1 150, time to die) but it's useless if i don't know how to make that work.
(2) modding pics, gon sarnett!!! i don't want to wait till saturday!!!!!!!

AT to ATX

Um...

Cut new holes in the mobo tray.

Cut out the back so you can snap in the plate that comes with your motherboard.

Thats pretty much it.
