I decided to take the time to fiddle with my graphics card and try my hand at overclocking....

(see sig)

I am able to achieve (stable using stock fan/heatsink) -

core - 618 (up from 580)
mem - 742 (up from 702)

idle - 67-71 degrees C
ingame - 85 degrees C

Is this overclock even worth it? If so, do you guys think it will degrade the graphics card components over time? (I'd hate for this thing to go out on me in the next 2 years or so)

THANKS and all advice is appreciated.

Honestly I dont think thats enough of an overclock to see any difference in gaming at all.. You'd be better off just running it at stock.

Danger! Danger! Will Robinson! I've heard some real horror stories from folks who have tried to tweak extra speed out of the 1950 Pro. With your rig, I would recommend leaving it at stock. That X2 4400 is a nice cpu and the 1950 Pro should run just fine with it at stock. In fact, if you want to get the maximum lifetime out your GPU, I would try to configure the settings and tweak the case such that the GPU stays under 70 degrees C. Your temps look high, even at idle. What case do you have, and what is your case fan configuration? Also, what brand is your 1950? Some brands exhausted air outside the case, others did not...this can make a diffference as well. For your setup, I agree with Cowboy420, you won't get an appreciable difference in performance and may significantly reduce the life span of your card.

like others have said there wont be any performance increase with that over clock. those temps are way to high. my old x1950 pro idled at 50 and loaded at 80-90. these cards can take a shit kicking. i killed my card so i can take it back to the futureshop so i could get a 8800 gt. (lol worked to) but i had my card running @ 120c for a week or 2 before it died
