My brother has gotten this itch to play a racing game with fun online multiplayer with me. Any such game?

I was thinking Test Drive Unlimited 2 or the upcoming NFS Shift 2?

What do you mean by fun? Is he looking for sim or arcade?

+1 for Trackmania - Very 'fun', arcade style. Nations is free. Create your own tracks. Excellent game.

Rfactor for simulation, Live for Speed is good also.

Project Torque for NASCAR.

TDU or TDU2 for arcade.

There's a big difference between sim racing and arcade racing. They're both fun in their own way. For simracing I can recommend GT Legends, GTR2, Live for Speed, an rFactor mod...

+1 to GRID,

I loved the multiplayer drift gametype in GRID. fun stuff when a drift match would have 8 people in one track, sometimes the other cars bang your car while you drift! haha

Good recommendations. I leaning towards a good balance of sim/racer. Luckily I have most of those titles just never played them. I have a bad habit of buying games then not having enough time to play them. Other genres eat up my free time.

Is Live for Speed still subscriptions based?

Was Live For Speed ever subscription based? I bought the S2 version some 4 years ago, one off, haven't paid any extra. If S3 ever gets released (which I dont think will ever happen) you might have to pay extra for that.

I really enjoy dirt 2. Split second and blur are also pretty great, and even more arcadey. Blur is a good Mario kart type racer. Split second has crazy explosive set pieces. Dirt 2 has great loose dirt driving rally feel.
