Im getting this processor soon but I need a good board to go with it. Ive heard good things about both the ASus A8N and Dfi lanparty ultra-d. Anyone have any experience that can steer me the right way i would really appreciate it. Thanks

BTW....Im going to be using 2gb ocz platinum ram.

DFI if you plan on overclocking. DFI if you plan on stock. Asus if you want bling and like spending extra money for it.

Though with an FX57, you're already "there" for the upper limits of the A64's speed. The DFI allows for a lot of flexibility of the memory timings (way more than the Asus) Also DFI is a company that actually makes products for enthusiasts and goes the extra step to give awesome bios features, whereas the Asus is pretty mild in comparison. The Asus has a good bios, but the DFI dwarfs the competition.

Also why get an FX57 instead of am FX60 or Opteron 165/170/175 etc? Gift?

the dfi's are actually more expensive than the a8n-e. i paid $130 CDN for mine while the DFI LP was $170. if the dfi was cheaper i probably would have gotten it though. I've heard it does require a lot more configuring and could take you a few days to get it how you want it. I'm very happy with my asus purchase though .
