I do a combo of MMO, RTS and FPS gaming as well as some 3D graphics development(3D Studio/AutoCAD) and would like to know what video card I need to be looking for. IT seems like the nvidia 280 or something out of the 4-series ATI world is my best best, based on my research. Anyone care to offer an opinion?

Firstly, what's your system currently and your budget?

I personally love my 4890, but the lack of DX11 would be disheartening for some, even if I find it unnecessary right now.

I'm looking for a new laptop. I don't have one capable of these activities currently and I'm trying to build a group of specs to shop by. I'd really like to spend under 2000$ and the closer to 1000$ the better! :)

Only thing that really may hold you back on the Acer is the GTS 250M with DDR3 RAM...it only has a 128-bit RAM bus so performance is that of a desktop 9800GS at best...

This is the Toshiba model here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114706 - $1399.99

Same specs as the Acer above...except it doesnt have 1080p (1680 x 945) only a 320GB hard drive...but the GTS 250M in this Toshiba has DDR5 RAM which can make up the difference of the 128-bit bus...its more comparible to a GTX 260M...

They also have the upgraded Toshiba Qosmio here:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114705 - $1899.99

Same specs as the Acer and Toshiba above except it has a 1080p screen, 6GB RAM, and a 64GB SSD and 320GB hard drive...same 256-bit GTS 250M...don't know if that makes it worth the $1900 price though!

Yeah, hes kinda right and wrong...just depends on the memory type used...DDR3 will be slower, like having DDR3 on a 128-bit bus LOL...but DDR5 RAM on 128-bit bus is more like DDR3 on a 256-bit bus...

So, the Toshiba would be slightly faster for gaming...but I only like the Toshiba for the $1900 version, 1080p screen is a must. The Acer on the other hand might be slightly slower than the Toshiba...but things like the 1080p screen and 500GB hard drive make up for the slightly slower GPU in my opinion - especially considering price!
