Im looking for a good Laptop card, something that will let me handle HL2 at 1280x1024 with max quality (probably not aa or af)

thanks

At least a Mobility 9700. My overclocked 9600 Pro Turbo runs 1280x768 (widescreen) with all the options high (default w/reflect world) at a decent speed, around 40fps average. But 1280x1024 makes some spots like the canal level too slow.

The Mobility 9700 is a 4 pipeline card like the Mobility 9600, but it has faster core and memory speeds.

unless you have a DELL xps or Alienware im not sure if you can jsut go and swap video cards

You will be able to with MXM technology, which will work by you having x y or z laptop grpahics card name, and you can then easily upgrade your graphics card to any other with the x y or z in it.

You can have your old lpatop graphics updated maybe, but it has to be sent of to manufacturer, and it costs lots.

hope this helped

Very, very few manufacturers, if any, will perform graphics upgrades on laptops. Most of them integrate the graphics with the motherboard. The exceptions have been noted already.

The 6800 Go or the X800 should be fine. If that's too much, than the 9700 or 9800 mobile will work.
