Im in need of some LEDs, anyone suggest a place with good prices?

Phone up someone like newark etc...tell them you are attending your local college or university. Ask them if they sample parts to students...

I'm in electronic manufacturing and there is a local University here..so I can get free samples of pretty much anything with just a phone call for samples...

Yes, do this so they will stop actually giving out free samples to legit students because some tool is too cheap to pay a measly 10 cents for an LED!

My suggestion is to find a local parts shop by looking in the phone book for "electronics" or something similar. Some places that deal in professional audio equipment oftentimes carry things like LEDs and switches, too. For example, www.partsexpress.com carries all sorts of goodies, and they are local to me so that is rad. I picked up a ziploc bag of red LEDs in both 3mm and 5mm sizes for $4 one day. It wasn't completely filled, but I'd say there were about 200+ in there. :) I have no clue where I put it though. :(

From the FAQ

Lighting: Where to buy
http://www.so-trickcomputers.com/Me...ategory_Code=LE < LED/CCFL Fans, CCFLs, LEDs, EL cable, EL Tape,
http://www.exabytesystems.com/ < LEDs CCFLs
http://www.svc.com/ < LED fans, CCFL's, UV reactive stuff
http://www.lsdiodes.com/ <~ good prices on LED's, qty discounts etc, $2 UPS shipping
http://www.v3leds.com/ <~ $.25 led's (with a resistor!) inexpensive USPS shipping ($1.75)
http://www.eled.com/ <~ very large seletion of different LEDs, including weird-shape and size, and high-intensity ones. their prices are rediculously high, but if you are looking for a *specific* led, that's the place to look
http://www.ledtronics.com/ <~ another commercial site with a huge selection of LED's

I''ve bought led's from v3leds before but their site seems to be down atm.
