37" westinghouse 1080p LCD - under 2000.00
i linked to best buy but this model can be had for less at other reputable on-line vendors.
westy's PQ lacks the clarity of sharp's similarly sized model but sharp's 37 incher is
priced at around 4000.00, which is simply a horrible price/performance difference. i have
no clue what the sharp people are thinking.
the westy is a great LCD which you can view in person to judge for yourself, assuming
there's a best buy store near you.

Unless you plan on using an antennae and only being able to get 2 or 3 local stations broadcasting in HD, you will need an outboard box anyway. Most cable companies give you the HD decoder box for free and charge an extra $5 to $10 per month for HD service.
CRT Rear Projection all the way. For under $2000 you can get a massive set with image quality that will destroy any DLP/LCD/Plasma in that price range
QFT - CRT sets still have one up on LCD and Plasma sets, including the price.

You can usually find the 42" Samsung for $1800-$2000 at circuit city. There are suaully other places like boscovs and BB that have it for right at $1800 so you can just have circuit city match that. The 42" Sony LCD RPTV is the same deal as well.
You can also get a Panasonic 32" HD LCD for around $1600-$1800.
