HDMI-DVI cable is fine. You could probably save a few bucks buying through monoprice.com instead since they can ship by USPS at exact rate/weight. I got two of the same things you're looking for there, one from PC to HDMI switch and the second leading from the switch to my monitor, they work great for any PC resolution up to 1680x1050, and presumably also all the way up to 1920x1200, so you don't need to worry about them working only with TV standard resolutions.
 
I would go with the HDMI-HDMI and the adapter.
Most video cards will soon be equipped with an HDMI input (and displayport?) and the HDMI-DVI cable may become useless.

The HDMI-DVI would also work fine.
 
I also have a related question. In the case of getting the HDMI-DVI adapter, does it matter whether the adapter support dual-link or single-link DVI-D?

It's a digital cable so brand really doesn't matter at all. I buy nothing but Monoprice cables and have never once had a problem with quality. Monster cables and the like are for suckers.

You only need dual-link DVI if the resolution that you're running is greater than 1920x1200. HDMI went a different way for higher resolution, by re-specing in the form of HDMI 1.3, which can handle clock rates up to 340MHz vs 165MHz for HDMI 1.2 and single link DVI. DVI solved the bandwidth issue by doubling the number of data lines from 3 to 6.

Which HDMI cable should I get from Monoprice? They have a bunch listed, so I am not sure what to get. I need 6 feet.
 
Wouldn't one of the 24 gauge HDMI cables be better, or does it not matter?
 
Never seen a comparison of guage on HDMI cables, but I would imagine you may need a certain thickness for very long cable runs. If you won't be doing something like a 30 ft run you'll be fine with the standard.
