I'm in need of a new monitor to replace my ancient Viewsonic pf790 19". I want to make the move to an LCD but Im not sure if they offer the same gaming performance as a CRT. I would like to keep the smoothness of 100hz and over 100fps Im used to but dont know if that is possible. What 17-18" LCD would you guys recommend for for an avid game who wants to keep it smooth and not spend over 500$?

BTW my videocard is a Radeon 9700 Pro if that matters.
 
The Samsung 915N or Hyundai L90D+, both of which use an 8ms panel, would be your best option because they are resonably priced and are the two best 19" LCD's for gaming. I have teh L90D+ and i really like it.
