So I'm in the market for a new monitor now that I am getting tired of my 75lb huge-assed (but free) Sony Trinitron MultiscanE400. I'd like to upgrade to something a little bit easier to manage and LCD "flat panels" seem to be a good thing. But I have some worries. I mainly use my PC for gaming so I need something that will have a decent enough response time without ghosting too much in FPS-style games. Anyting you guys can recommend in the under $300 range? Size isn't much of a concern, but I don't think I could live with anything smaller than 15"s.

Monitors are NOT my strong point so I am pretty much in the dark as far as whats "hot" these days.
 
Sounds like you are looking for a 17" 14ms to 16ms LCD. Newegg has a handfull of them in the $300 range.
 
$300... beware, u get what u pay for, i HONESTLY say put dwon the extra 100 to get the ultra fast and beautiful samsung 712n or 710n... 12 ms response time and 600:1 contrast, its $399
