good external dvd player for a notebook

What are the specs of your laptop? If it's old enough that it didn't come with a DVD-ROM drive, it's probably not quite powerful enough to handle decoding and displaying the movie.
 
well i'm in the process of getting a laptop now. i'm only going to be using it for a few weeks though so i'm trying to get it as cheap as possible. i don't need it to play actual encoded dvds, just avi files on a dvd rom.
