Hey fellow [H]ard members! I'm in a position to buy a gently used pair of Rokit RP-6's and an accompanying RP-10s Subwoofer along with all necessary cables to set it up (monster.. but whatever). The asking price is $450. I'm in the market for a solid 2.1 system but I don't do any studio recording. I have my PC setup with a Razer AC-1 (cheap off woot) and mainly use it to listen to music (flac). So, is this a deal I should jump on or should I spend my money elsewhere? (P.s. Yes I know the retail values of the speakers....)

Thanks in advance guys!

I would do it. I have the G2/ new 10s version of that setup and its great for listening to music. You could always try those speakers at a guitar center if you want to know how they sound beforehand.

I'm a little worried as I'm not sure how I would connect these to my PC short of a DAC.. Any tips? I'm really stuck on the fence here!

you can get a mini cable that splits into dual ts/trs like this

http://www.amazon.com/HOSA-CMP159-Stereo-Phone-Y-Cable/dp/B000068O3C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270603173&sr=8-1

or you can get an audio card with ts/trs jacks. i went with an m-audio audiophile 192

but theres a few different kinds you can get if you are interested in going this route.

Sounds like a decent deal if the sub is any good. I wasn't too impressed when I listened to a Rokit sub in a guitar store. I don't think it's worth the $300-$400 msrp, far from it. Maybe $200 msrp, 250 tops. There are some really good options above $250.

The Rokit 6's are pretty nice though.

Overall, it's a fair price on a good setup. I'd probably bite.

I bought 'em-

"Wow."

That should sum it up! I'm still in a small apartment room so I can't leave the sub up too high but I am very impressed by how clean and flat these sound (as they should). I got them hooked up with a Roland UA-1G interface too (I got the seller to throw it in for free, $400 out the door with all the cables + Speakers + Sub + DAC).

FLAC-> USB UA-G1-> 1/4" Mono -> RP10s Crossover-> XLR-> RP6 Speakers

I am floored by how good these sound. I have some past experience with HT speakers but the clarity of these is awesome. Overall I'm very pleased! Thanks for all the input guys!
