I have an amd xp 3000+ and it is idleing at like 46-47 C and full load at about 51 C. I was just wondering if those are descent temps. I used to get lower before I put my new power supply in. My cpu hsf was always a really tight fit with the metal clip it has on it, but now with my new power supply, I don't know why, its almost impossible to get on. I'm guessing that the hsf isn't sitting exactly correctly. Hopefully it will hold up until the next upgrade
 
you really don thave anything to worry about. Those AXP's run very hot, and you're doing well if you're load is near 50. Idle is a tad high, though.
 
Yes, ambient/room temperature makes a big difference. After all, it can't cool the chip any cooler than the air it's surrounded by! :)

I did a thread on my summer non-A/C-ed overclock.

5:00PM Room 87f / Motherboard 36c / CPU 52c
8:20PM Room 82f / Motherboard 34c / CPU 50c
7:00AM Room 75f / Motherboard 32c / CPU 47c
1:06PM Room 84f / Motherboard 35c / CPU 52c
3:00PM Room 90f / Motherboard 40c / CPU 55c

That's quite a swing, and totally due to room temperature.

Idle I'm at around 27-29c
At full load I'm at around 33-37c
Liquid cooling.
