Good choice?

Ok so I have configured this dell on their website, I figure I can get the price to be around $1400. I am going to be attending college in the fall (imagine this for a post idea :) ) and am looking for something that has some power but is also pretty portable. Any ideas on what to change, different company, different laptop and so on would be great thanks.

I am looking to keep it under 1500 at the most.

Dell 8600
Intel® Pentium®M Processor 745 (1.8GHz),15.4in WSXGA+
256MB DDR SDRAM 1 Dimm (I will upgrade from crucial for alot cheaper $)
128MB DDR ATI's MOBILITY® RADEON™ 9600 PROTURBO
24X CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive
60GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless (802.11 b/g, 54Mbps)

Comes with 2 year ext. warrenty with complete care(opps warrenty as I call it)

thanks again,
Craig

Everyone I know with an 8600 hates it because they can't bring them anywhere. They just sit on there desks while other people are using things like d400's or d600's in lectures and at the library.
