good choice on upgrade?

trying to piece together my upgrades for a 64bit upgrade.
i'll be going from a radeon 9600 pro and was thinking about getting a x800gto for $149
thats about how much i want to spend, but if i can get better performance for the same price or a better(cheaper) price, please let me know

Before you consider buying that new graphics card, you should be upgrading the mobo as well - then u can get that evga 6800 GS PCI-E version from newegg for $154 after rebate, which also happens to totally whip ass and offers just the same performance as a stock 6800 GT.

unless you can tell me otherwise, i like ati more myself, but will buy nvidia if its a better deal. whats so much better about the 6800gs over the x800gto?

Ok read this then - http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/nvidia_geforce_6800_gs_performance/default.asp - the main reasons are its performance is the same as a stock 6800 GT and it has 256MB of 256-bit memory and supports shaders 3.0 - also have u considering getting an Opty 146 instead of that 3200, it OC's much easier and has 1MB L2.
