I've got a 5.1 logitech setup right now and it's just too much. I rarely have anyone listening to the music besides me so i wanna get some good cans (im using the sony wrap arounds from my cd player right now. I was thinking about some sennheiser 497's but i thought i'd come here and see if you guys have some suggestions. I'm always listening to music so i'd like something pretty comprable to my real speakers. I have an audigy 2 if that matters lol.

Your best off asking on headfi.com. Having said that(I know Mister X will slam me for saying this), but I recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 770. I play games and listen to music. For both, you need to have cans that can produce enough bass(I listen to rap, rock, trance, etc...bassy stuff).
I suppose if you want accurate sound(whatever that means...ask some headfi geek) then you should aim for the Sennheiser HD580, 600, or 650. Another good choice is the Sony CD3000.
All of these cans are expensive, with the DT 770 being the cheapest at around 200 bucks. All of these cans need amplification in the form of a dedicated headphone amp. I recommend X 86 Dude for amps. He's on the [H] and is a mod as well.

Realistically, speaking, get the Sennheiser HD650 or Sony CD3000. Get at least a PPA amp to power it. That should bring your price range to about 750 - 800 bucks. While you're at it get your sound card upgraded to an Audigy 2 ZS...and ship it to X 86 Dude to get op amps replaced. This setup is geared more for music listening I would think.
Open means the sound leaks...there's a grill on the outside of the cans. Closed means...well closed; sound may still leak depending on how high you listen to, but not nearly as much as an open system. Open cans are "supposed" to sound more accurate. Closed are "supposed" to offer better bass impact. BTW, the 650s are open. The CD3000 are closed.
The CD3000 comes in a cool suitcase.
PLEASE, don't buy expensive cans without adequate amping. Nice cans are like speakers...you need to amp them properly to get the best effect.
Open headphones let noise in (and lets noise out). Closed headphones are isolated. Open headphones tend to sound better given everything else is the same.
Getting an amp or not is also something you should consider. Some headphones need one to really reach their potential. Of course, that's more cash too.
It's probably good to know what kind of music you listen to as well.

They are made in Germany so I suggest you order from www.meier-audio.de. IF you get the DT 770, be sure to pick up the non-pro version because it has less clamping force. 580 = "supposid" more accurate sound. DT 770 = basshead cans. I'm a basshead. I use these personally. That is not to say that they don't sound beautiful to me.
Anyway, with either set up, get an amp. Shoot for a PPA amp from X 86 Dude(PM him) if you can afford it. If not, get a Pimeta amp from him. AIM him to find more info. AIM = X86 inside.
