Good Camera?

around that price maybe you should check out the hp735 my wife likes it and it seems to take decent shots

I suggest saving up a bit more to pick up a Canon A70, it can do everything that compacts can do.

i was woundering if A) its any good(cam noob) and B) if it can do those really kool light shots were you can like see streams light.
Thanx in advance.
4MP at that price can almost assure you that it's not going to have good image quality or manual controls to do the long exposure shots you described. You should get a high quality 3MP camera instead like the A70 mentioned.

well another reason why i want this camera is that it use's CF cards and i have 128mb card laying around and i dont want to buy more media.

ya but i dont have much money to spend on a camera i just check futureshop for the a70 and its like 419 i dont want to spend that much on a camera.

err that 419 CDN so thats like i dunno but if i could get that camera for 299 CDN i would.

Well in that price range the A60 is the only option that will get you the manual controls you are looking for. Its only 2 mp but it will take better pictures than the 4 mp camera you are considering.

ok well i dont need amazing pictures i need something that will take decent-good picutres and cost about 229.99 cdn and use CF. as you can see thats why i wanted the apex.

Not capable of night shots, longest shutter speed is 1/2 a second. Look for a camera that has a shutter speed of a few seconds(6+). The A60 does all this and is in your price range.

umm the a60 is 329cdn 100 more then i want to spend. damnit its a nice camera too.

Can be had for 179US/234CAD. Maybe things are that much more expensive up there but I bet theres some place that has it for a reasonable price.

Get the A60. It should be $100 less than the A70 and does everything just as good as the A70 (except the movie mode).

Plust it has all the manual controls so you can take those long exposure shots, and it has good image quality.

No optical zoom and no manual controls, IE cant take nightshots. The least expensive camera that does what you want it to is gonna be the A60 unfortunately. If that means youll have to save up a bit then you should.

BTW, stay away from fuji.. Mine takes decen photos when the zoom doesnt jump off track.. Take a wild guess at how many precious shots I have lost.

My Fuji 2800Zoom has never jumped off track. It takes decent, very sharp images consistantly, gives you a resonable amount of control, has a 6x optical zoom, and from my experience i would happily buy another Fuji camera if i needed to place my current one (which i dont intend to do until i can afford a digital slr)

Check out Canada Computers (just combine the two words and add an ".ca")

I wouldn't recommend anything that cheap. I'd save up for a Canon... because the rest are pretty much garbage. (for CF at least)

Check out some forum's FS/T forum. You can pick up nice deals there...

i ended up buying the cannon a300 its a great camera for $321cdn and it use's CF and it has all the zoom blah blah thanx for everyone sugestion if i end up needing a a60 then i'll just sell this way.

Umm, it doesn't have any optical zoom. Only 5.1x digital zoom. Might as well just zoom in on photoshop.
