I need a cheap video card that doesn't suck ( lol what are the chances of that ? )

But right now I'm debating between a Geforce 2 GTS, Geforce 3, and a Radeon 9200.

It all depends on which one is best for the cheapest amount of money.

So let it go Hardocp people, I know this is the right place to ask hardware questions :p !

9200, but not the SE version, out the choices you provided

what is your absolute maximum budget though

there is a powercolor 9600pro for $132 at newegg, and heck 9600XT's are much higher than that, around $150 now

need to know your budget

Based on a quick look at pricewatch, I'd guess $50-60 or so.

In which case the standard results are going to be:

a) spend more money and get a ___ instead.
b) you should be able to get a ___ for that much (but you really can't)
c) Get a Radeon 8500 or 9100.

My absolute maximum budget is like $45 or so. I know its not going to take me anywhere in gaming but I need just a modest card til I get a job this summer. By that time I will most likely fork up the cash for a much better card like a 9500 pro.

I'm building this entire sysetm just for wow. I know it won't take high end parts to run W.o.W great but my goal is to have an awesome machine anyways.

drivers are also an important issue. I've often debated with myself which company had better support for Linux and opengl ( ATI or nVidia ? )

I would see if I can find a cheap, used GF3. That would do what you want.

I am still running a GF-3 Non-Ti {64!!}. I play Call of Duty with AA set at 2x and AS at 4x when on-line. Most in-game options to medium-high.

I also play NwN/SoU/HotU with full AA/AS High in-game settings with NO probs.

Matter of fact, I play the Far-Cry demo with the same settings...except the ingame options at LOW. {sigh}

I love this card. Sad to say its getting old and I'm anxious to give an ATI brand a try....

{$198 bux saved, 9800 Pro is in my sights SOON}

I like the idea of a geforce 3. They are slightly more expensive than something like a Geforce 4 mx 400. I will do a quick benchmark check at tomshardware right quick.

Unfortunately "don't buy one" isn't much use when somebody's trying to get a computro with no video card in it yet working.
