Good "affordable" USB Headset?

My wife has started gaming on her laptop.. also that mean pigs have started to fly. Unfortunately her laptop does not have a MIC in port. She is currently using a mono ear plantronics headset with a mic to game and chat on mumble.

I am looking to upgrade her audio to a standard 2 ear headset with a mic, however it needs to be USB. I'm not trying to break the bank, and ideally ~$30 would be awesome but I am flexible. I'm having a hard time finding this on my own so I thought I'd ask the [H].

Corsair makes a couple headsets that might work. Just be aware $30 is not a lot of money for a mic, headphones and USB digital to analog converter.
Koss has always come in above their price range, and the SB45 is no exception.

and then use non usb headsets also...

i might (i actually own these ...i used them a lot for a good while, but have some nicer headphones now..but I still keep and use these some) actually suggest something like this along with the splitter cable.

They work if the device you're plugging them into supports 4 contact mini-jacks. Most cell phones and stuff are set up like this, and many laptops have a combination mic/headphone 3.5mm jack. A 4-contact splitter like that is probably the solution intended by your laptop manufacturer.

Terrific, I was not aware of this whatsoever. I will give this a go first and buy a new headset secondly.

I would check the laptop's specs before purchasing to make sure it does have a combination headphone/mic jack.
