Hi, i was wondering if u guys could suggest some good 300GB hard drives with a 16mb cache that is sata?
 
Maxtor and Seagate are the only makers that meet all of your requirements exactly, and in that situation, going with Maxtor is a no-brainer. The WD3200KS looks interesting though, and may be worth considering.
 
Performance wise yes. It's a perfectly quiet and reliable unit though, and does enjoy high transfer rates. Seagate drives are excellent choices for external enclosures and secondary media storage drives, but their application level performance isn't great, making them a poor choice as a boot/application drive.
 
I ordered this drive last night. It has your size specifications with a 16mb buffer and is SATAII compliant. I am hooking it up to an eSATA enclosure. Let me know what you think. Here. No tax and free 2nd shipping, and its cheaper by $10 at Zipzoom compared to the Egg.
 
ohh cause i just bought one of these seagates for 100$ after rebates 3 days ago. i thought it was a good deal

If you think those drives are reliable, you are setting yourself up for failure. No mechanical hard drive, regardless of brand or warranty, can be trusted to protect data on its own.
