I'm in the market for a new 20-24" LCD. I'm a programmer, so the main use of the monitor is going to be staring at text for hours on end. However, I'm still interested in good color quality, because I do look at photos now and then. Moreover, I'm a Mac user, and OS X looks kinda shitty on monitors with poor color saturation. So far, I'm looking at the following monitors:

NEC 20WMGX2 (~$600)
Dell 2407WFP ($700+)
Apple Cinema Display ($900+)

I've got hesitations about each of this monitors. According to Tom's Hardware, the 20WMGX2 is "a pure gamers monitor", which worries me a bit since I couldn't really care less how the monitor does in games. However, I've seen other reviews that praise its color accuracy and sharpness, so who knows? The 2407WFP doesn't seem like a sure bet to me, because I've owned a 2405FPW in the past and was never completely happy with it. It always seemed kinda grainy to me, and looked washed-out in OS X. As for the Cinema Display, well, its old technology. I've seen them, and I like them a bit better than the 2405, but surely there has been some progress in the years since they originally came out?

I've also got a specific question for those with the 20WMGX2. Do you find the "vibrancy" that people always rave about to be fatiguing after prolonged use? Or is it a monitor you can stare at for hours without eyestrain?

Thanks in advance.
