Hello storage junkies!

I'm looking for a simple backup solution to backup all the files on my PC. I'm currently running Windows 7 RC and need to update. I don't need anything fancy, this is mostly going to be for videos, photos, software install files, and saved games. this is the one I'm looking at now

EDIT: Just to throw in, my current storage for my pc (internal) is as follows.

2x WD SATA 80Gb drives ( one used for XP MCE 2005, One used for data files that are transferred between OS's)
160 Gb IDE drive (was used for Win7 Beta now is full of that insallation and files downloaded/used for that install)
120 Gb Sata Drive ( has win7 RC installed, current main OS drive)

there is no raid on these drives.

I will most likely be formatting all drives but the XP OS drive after I backup.

Pretty much anything like you linked will work as a backup solution. I tend to prefer the 2.5" versions since they are run off USB power and don't need a power brick. 640gb is the biggest you'll find though, at around $100 also (there are some larger 2.5" units that use two drives).

yeah, I ended up getting just the seagate "expansion drive". Didn't need anything fancy and it was $10 cheaper then the seafate or WD solutions shipped for free from newegg. I got it for 89.99 from best buy and was able to use it immediatly. I did see they had a 2.5" 1 TB drive though, just to let you know, but it was incredibly expensive.

I use the WD Passport drives for my backups. Easily portable and like the others said doesn't require anything but a USB jack. You can get up to 750GB for $99, and at $179 for the 1TB model I don't think it is too expensive. I remember when 1TB external drive were much larger and $500.

for internal get the f3 or the 1tb from samsung.

passports are ok i guess if you just want to use it as back up but you'll never use it much cause its going to be filled.

wd caviars are good also. there are some around here for about 80 shipped i suggest you look around

I'm a fan of Western Digital and it's Caviar line up. For external storage, a 1TB Green with a Rosewill ESATA/USB2 enclosure is nice. The Caviar Blacks are much faster, but for your needs, it's not needed. My Green is more than enough to store photos, music, videos, the My Documents folder, and all my ripped games(no need to use the physical disk).
