I called Gainward USA today, at the telephone # listed on their website (408-942-2898) to inquire about where I could find a 6800 Golden Sample Dual-slot in the US because no-one had them. I seriously couldn't find any e-tailer that had one! Anyway, I was told that Gainward was no longer manufacturing video cards!  :(

I am baffled by this decision, if its true! They make great cards, I don't know what to do now, I guess I'm getting the MSI 6800 now, I'll have to flash it to a GS.

uh, i doubt they stopped, i dont know who you called. they did stop making the double-slot 6800 vanilla, maybe thats what they meant.....

the two slot cooling was loud and more expensive, so they dropped it in favor of the single slot- lucky i got one early ;) if you can find one, its 2NS ram, pretty nice stuff

Gainward is no longer making cards for the US, and since you called Gainward US that would be a correct statement by the rep.

Are they really not shipping cards to the US? wow

sounds like something galaxy would do :p

Yeh, time to try a new brand... BFG and eVGA both make nice stuff :)

The original poster got a similar story I got.. I called the week before xmas and got a man with a strong accent who misunderstood me when I asked to "Purchase a video card." He then informed me that "We are not selling new cards, only fixing old ones" and that "We are going through a restructuring, please inquire to see if we are selling cards after the holidays."

I'm saddened, but it's explained partially in this story from theinquirer.net
