Going to Intel,

Well, after dabbling in AMD almost all my hardware enthusiast life (which is
relatively short, hehe), I saw a good deal on a Pentium D combo which has
been tempting for a while now.

- Intel 940
- Asus P5LD2 Deluxe
- 2x 1024 Samsung PC6400

I need some input. I'm not sure the RAM's bus is higher then the CPU's
which I think is 800MHz.

Since ths chip is already a dual core 3.2GHz, I don't think there's much
room for overclocking on air (I really don't know what kind of cooler I'll be
getting or what's the CPU's stepping/core version).

Should I downgrade the RAM? Anyone knows what's the ocee potential
behind this chip with a good air cooler?

Actually, 920's and up have a very fair chance of hitting 4ghz on the stock cooler.

yea, this isn't AMD anymore. You've got a bit of headroom. Get water or phase, and you've opened yourself up for more overclocking room. your DDR2 800 is more than enough for that Pentium D. I've never used samsung RAM. For that Pentium D, i'd recommend something like Mushkin DDR2 667 or OCZ Gold Series DDR2 667 on newegg (1Gb for about 100 bucks).

So basically it's 16 (cpu multi) x 250 (fsb) for a total of 4GHz right?

If that's case, I can downgrade the RAM DDR2-533 or even DDR2-500 (not sure if that exists) without risking a performance hit right?

I can't really afford to go water on this one. I'll downgrade the RAM and get a 1GB kit. If I need more juice I'll get another 1GB kit later on. I don't believe there's the 1T-2T issues like AMD-64 platform so I can save a few bucks this way.
