I'm deciding wether or not to go to the Intel camp as their processor offer better performance than AMD at the moment and I always buy what is the best at the moment. Will I see any differences between the too? Meaning since AMD has the build in memory controller, would I notice this or not? Just wondering as some people have told me that I would notice it but I highly doubt that. I know it will offer a big performance update, just wondering about the memory part. Any good info would be appreaciated. My current config is in my sig.

Considering you have not mentioned what you really will be doing with it most, it is hard to say. Gaming is still overall GPU limited. I would suggest that any dual core CPU running at 2.5GHz or so is going to give you the same real world gaming experience at 1280 lines of resolution and above with the same video card. Moving from a single core AMD CPU to a dual is likely going to give you an overall better computing experience.

If you are talking about encoding video etc, Core 2 Duo processors can give you some significantly better encode times. With new Phenoms, at 2.3GHz, all things are about equal with Intel Quad cores, but as the clock moves up, the Intel parts significantly scale better than AMDs newest parts. And overall, Intel CPUs will all overclock to at least 3.3GHz+ right out of the box.

It will be mainly a Gaming Machine at 1680x1050 resolution since my monitor is limited to that. At times, not often, I would be doing do some video enconding. Right now I'm waiting on the 9800GX2 from Nvidia to come out so I can decide between that card or Ati's 3800X2. I like AMD but they have been slacking for the past year and I'm tired of waiting. I'm leaning towards the Quad cores as they are more future proof, hopefully.
