Going from AMD to Intel

The problem with the repair install is that all your data is there but the entire registry is wiped clean so a lot (if not all) of your installed programs won't work. At least thats the problem I've run into in the past.
 
...reformatting isn't that difficult.

i'm of the mindset that if you're working to replace hardware with new stuff, then you should work at backing up all your sh*t and reinstalling the OS-- that's the only way to genuinely guarantee that you won't run into any headaches or snafus with hardware incompatibility or lockouts of the OS due to changes in hardware configuration.

A repair installation will work, but I'd only advise it if you already installed all the new stuff (naughty, naughty) and need to boot just long enough to back up all the crap you have.NOT as a way to prolong your present install for nomal use with new hardware. that's bad mojo.

hell, i reinstalled windows when I upgraded my Augity2zs to a Xf-fi Music...
