• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

GODmode hides malware

"Users can rid themselves of the malware by first ending the associated process via Task Manager, before opening up a command prompt and entering the following string, specially crafted by the security experts at McAfee:"

"rd “\\.\%appdata%\com4.{241D7C96-F8BF-4F85-B01F-E2B043341A4B}” /S /Q"

HAHAHA.. specially crafted?

How do you specially craft a remove directory command?

Either article author is clueless of McAfee is spewing hot air to try to make people feel like McAfee is somehow special.

I like how this article talks about security holes, but requires Java to run the video at the bottom of the page.

You have to admit, McAfee products are a version of malware in themselves. Like Norton products they're able to slow your PC to a literal crawl while milking you for hard earned $$ in continual subscriptions.

I thought Intel was a good company? McAfee is Intel.

Intel is actually evil. It's a bit like Microsoft, boosting prices through market dominance. McAfee is really more like malware, it autoinstalls with many freeware or driver installers and easily leads into situations where the user has antivirus x + McAfee installed at the same time. Having two antiviruses running is even worse for your computer than one.

Except that in this case, Mcafee Antivirus is not being installed at all. A Mcafee Security Scan program is installed but, it does not run in the background or run like Mcafee antivirus does. Sheez people, neither Mcafee nor Norton are bad like they once were. (I do use Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Antimalware regardless. :) )

I work on machines clogged with McAfee every day. It is a resource sucking, performance diminishing, largely useless item of software that's sadly installed on most brand name PC's out of the box like malware.
