So I'm about to start ordering parts, and wanted to ask the [H] to take a look at my setup and beat me in the head if anything looks bad. Really appreciate your time, I'll try to make it easy to read:

Lian Li PC-60BPLUSII
ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) Twinx2048-3200c2pt - On sale this weekend at the egg
OCZ ModStream OCZ52012U 520W Power Supply
LITE-ON 16X DVD±R DVD Burner W/ 5X DVD-RAM Write - Retail
1 WD740ADFD - Boot, programs
1 WD740ADFD - Games
1 7200 HDD to be decided later - Storage
XFX 7900GT (preferably extreme or XXX) - as soon as I can get one

No OC at all to start out with; in a few months I might do something very modest - say 10%, but I don't have plans to start pushing things to their limits on this build.

change the 7900gt to the x1800xt, which is now $300 at newegg, then go like ellie arroway.

7900gt's are substantially cheaper..even the extreme series are down to around 260 dollars. I just bought a regular clocked one, and I'm gonna volt mod it. Of course, with the x1800xt you do get the added benefits of an extra 256mb of memory.

And better short-term reliability. :)
