Just emerged in GNOME 2.6 and there are some nice bits abt it.
What is really annoying me is how Nautilus has changed is:

no more side bar with dir navigator etc
double-click on a dir and it opens in a new window.

I hated that in windows and changed it to in-same-window but is there a way to do it in GNOME 2.6???

Eh it's sorta stable, but at least it's fast as hell. Nautilus windows pop up instantly now. Not to mention the widgets seem to be getting rendered much faster.

do the CONTENTS of the windows pop up instantly?

thats what windows does to give illusion of speed. show box, then fill in box

yep stable as anything. Window contents appear quicker as well.

booting into GNOME2.6 take alot longer than in 2.4 (not impressed with).

I dont like the "my computer" icon holding all yr un-mounted volumes - go ito it and double click on a drive and it appears on yr desktop. I prefered the 2.4 method of a right-click option to mount.

Mut my main one is with this "spacal" window method (like in MAC) but I prefer browser style - if you are exploring the linux source dir for something you end up with soo many windows open - just messy
