Since people are devouring the capacity of their inboxes, Google has vowed to increase the rate of storage space.

"A few of you are using Gmail so much that you're running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we're announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage," wrote Rob Siemborski, a Google engineer on the Gmail blog.

I just don't see why one would trust that much information to be left on a free service.

I've had 3 Hotmail accounts. Within 2-3 months, each account became so flooded with spam that I had to close them. I've had my Gmail account since last December and haven't received one spam e-mail, yet.

I found the woman of my dreams through Hotmail, so it wasn't all bad. I exchanged e-mails with this sexy, hot, Latino massage therapist from Costa Rica. She promised to fly up to see me if I just wired her my Visa, MasterCard and social security numbers. That was over three weeks ago. She's probably just having a little delay with her passport.

Because Microsoft and Google knows how to secure emails better than the average user. Free or no, Outlook on mom and pop's computer is probably 100 times more unsecured.

I have 355k messages totaling just over 2gigs in one of my gmail accounts. ~2.5years *300-1000 mailing list posts per day.

more raw space??? pfeh, increase the attatchment size limit alot and then i'll be happy.....
