giving computer building a try

Definitely get a better monitor. Save some $$ and get the Kingston Value Ram. It might not have the blue spreaders and the lower latency timing, but it will save you $120, and you can use that to get yourself a nice 19" flat screen monitor instead.

Can the monitor go for something better,
go with the best ram you can get!! I like coursair you won't be sorry

Watch your PS, not sure how good that one is , might be ok, but with all the power hungry stuff you might be better off gettin a Lian Li case and PC Power& cooling PS, Future proof and strong, clean, stable, reliable, there when you need it juice!

I would get the case and monitor from best buy or compusa maybe. The shipping will probably be a lot since they are very heavy. It says the shipping for the monitor is 29 and the case is 16. Some retail stores might have the exact model your looking for or something very close. The case might be a tough find but you should be able to find a monitor to suit your needs.

And if you need a hard drive, retail stores offe rebates in their sales ads that allow them to offer prices even lower than newegg. If you don't mind sending in the forms you can fin a good deal there. I got a seagate 120 GB 7200 rpm drive for $70. The drives on sale from best buy are usally seagate or western digital. You can't go wrong with either of them.

id spend another 60 bucks on the video card and get hte vanilla 6800, itd be much better in the long run than that 9800 pro

I can't even see the link, so I guess i'll just have to agree with these guys.

What RAM did he pick anyways?

ok i put up the new wishlist. i kind of got a few cheaper but good pieces and i took your suggestions into consideration and i am going to look at monitors and hdds at bestbuy and compusa thnx again for all the help

Thanks guys for everything. But now i have something else on my mind, either get 1x 120 gig HDD or 2x 60gig HDD and use RAID

If you're thinking RAID 0, don't bother, it doesn't really offer much, if any, performance benefit, unless you're dealing with huge, sequential files.

meh i decided not to cuz its way more expensive then i thought, so yea i had to change my wish list again since the sound card i wanted sold out, but the onboard sound has 6 channels so im not worrying about a sound card now, and im getting an 18 inch crt monitor from compusa along with a logitec MX 510

and again guys thnx for all of the advice, im not big on hardware so i really dont know whats good and whats not.

oh yea and btw, what kind of sound card would you recommend?

All around, I'd recommend the Audigy 2 from Creative.

Also, what monitor are you getting from CompUSA? Samsung 955DF? Viewsonic A90F+?

Lose the Plextor and get a Lite-On DVD burner.
With those speakers definetly use a Audigy 2 card or Terratec Aureon Universe. The Universe is what i will be getting in my next rig, as i don't care much for crapative.
