Was running Boinc 32 bit 6.2.28 and BoincView showed 3 GFLops for all core on machine, a AMD 810 x4 @ 3gz, dedicated cruncher.

Upgraded to 6.6.11 64 bit. Now BioncView shows 2.4 GFLops. Time for completing WUs look about the same. Benchmarks went down in integer and up in floating.

Don't usually care too much about benchmarks but wondering if I shoulda left things alone.

Cheers!

As long as completion times are the same then it really shouldn't affect anything.
I'll do some testing on this and see what I can come up with.
I have wondered about the performance difference myself and now I have a reason to figure it out.
There are some projects like SZTAKI Desktop Grid that wont give you ant work for a 64bit client so you have to run Boinc 32bit if you want to do that project. I don't know if any others out there that are that way but there may be some I have crunched before.
As far as Boinc 6.6.11 - it has lots of problems. As an Alpha tester for Boinc may I suggest version 6.6.0 for the latest stable version and if you want the latest bleeding edge we have version 6.6.15 is out that still has a few bugs in it that will be fixed in version 6.6.16 that should be released here in the next few days.
6.6.11 will not run the anonymous applications so if you want to run the SetiCuda optimized app or the optimized MilkyWay app you will need version 6.6.0 or wait for 6.6.16 to be released since 6.6.15 has some issues with Seti as well as GPUGRID work fetch issues.

I will do some testing on your question here in the next few days and get back to you with any result I may come up with.

Cool thanks for the reply!

I backed down to 6.4.7 64 bit but same benchmarks, a pretty steady 2.4 GFlops.

I'm using 6.4.7 and it's pretty stable for me.

I switched back to 32 bit 6.2.28. My days WUs sucked. I noticed that completion time on AIDES and Cancer had increased one almost to 10 hours.

The benchmarks went up in Floating and down in integer going back to 6.2.28 and BoincView Est. Speed is back to 3 GFLops.

Boinc really is just a program manager isn't it? The actual computing is done by the individual WUs right? That is what is shown in Task Manager. Why would different Boinc versions make such a difference?

Dunno if this matter but this is running under Win 7 64 bit.
